Chocolate plus learning?!? Yes please

This experiment will teach students about solvents and solutes! These are basically the ingredients in a mixture of a solid (solute) and a liquid (solvent). This experiment uses hot chocolate as an example. The actual experiment has a student put a piece of candy in his or her mouth and has them act differently with it like no sucking on it or sucking on it. The experiemnt teaches kids about the time required for an object to dissolve in one's mouth.

Disappearing Act!

This is a wonderful experiemnt for middle schoolers. This is an experiment to see which substance (salt or sugar) will dissolve quickest in water. This experiment will show the student the time it takes for each substance to dissolve and how they compare.

Making things is always fun. Making things that can be used is even better. To top both of those, making something at home out of stuff you have at home and that can be used is the best! This is a good activity on how to make your own glue. This activity will really allow the student to make their own glue which can be used! Doing this activity at home will allow the student and the adult family member bond while learning. Learning can happen anywhere! School is not the only placce where learning can occur!

"Calcium is important!" "WHY?!"

Due to their age, young children do not understand the importance of proper nutrition. As the daughter of an orthopedic surgeon, I was told often to drink milk, eat cheese and eat yogurt. Why? Because all of these dairy products have calcium! Calcium is important for bones. Calcium keeps bones strong and healthy. Without calcium, our bones would be incredibly weak and would be damaged with every single step a person took. This activity shows children why calcium is so important to our bones. This will help parents get their children to consume dairy products that contain calcium and will help their bones!

Picky Eaters No More!

Many parents know that children are picky eaters. The food may look, smell or feel weird or abnormal. As they grow older, parents struggle to get their children to try the foods they turned down as children. This activity will also teach them a good lesson about judging. The phrase "You can't judge a book by its cover" is commonly told to stubborn people who refuse to try anything new or come to conclusions with no supportive reasons or explanations. this issue can be applied to food, sports and making new friends. This activity stresses the fact that people need to try something before they come to a conclusion about it. You cannot judge a person by their clothes, religion or the way they speak. You can only do so after getting to know the person very well. This is an excellent way to get students to learn to wait before they judge foods, activities and people.
Blindfold Test!

By blindfolding the child, they cannot judge a food by the way it looks. This is similar to how a person cannot judge a person by just looking at them.

By comparing the vegetables to activities or people that children judge without complete knowledge and understanding, the child will hopefully be open to trying more foods, activities and being friends with more types of people.

Earth As A Cake? Hmm. Yummy!

Earth is a very important planet. Why? First of all, we live here! Secondly, scientists have not found a planet that is capable of supporting any kind of life. Children are veryi interested in learning about the Earth. They play in the grass. They dig in the dirt. They don't know what is underneath that dirt though.
